Introduction

Nice Software is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect across our products, how we use it, and your rights regarding your information. This policy applies to all Nice Software applications including SlowRead, Studio Matter, Wax & Pigment, NotaBill, NotaTime, Invoice PDF, and any other products or services we offer.

What We Stand For

Nice Software creates thoughtful tools for focused work. Privacy is a core principle of our design philosophy. We believe:

  • Your data belongs to you, not to us
  • Tools should be transparent about data handling
  • Minimal data collection enables better privacy
  • Local-first design keeps control in your hands
  • You deserve to know exactly what we collect and why

Information We Collect

The data we collect varies by product, but generally includes only what is necessary to provide functionality:

  • Application Data: Content you create within our apps (reading lists, designs, invoices, time entries, etc.). This data stays on your device by default.
  • Device Information: Basic information about your device needed for app functionality (device type, operating system, app version).
  • Diagnostics: Some apps use third-party services that process crash and performance data. See the app-specific policies below for details.
  • Cloud Sync Data (Optional): If you enable cloud sync (via iCloud or similar), your data is synced to your personal account. You control whether this is enabled.
  • Contact Information (Optional): Only collected if you contact us for support.

How We Use Your Data

Content you create in our apps is used to provide the services you use:

  • Store and display your content on your device
  • Enable sync across your devices (if you enable it)
  • Fix bugs and improve app stability
  • Respond to your support inquiries
  • Display widgets and notifications you've configured

We do not use content you create in our apps for marketing or advertising. Some free apps, including Logn, use advertising services that process device and ad interaction data. Those services and your choices are described in each app's privacy policy. We do not sell your app content.

Data Storage & Cloud Sync

Local Storage (Default): Content you create in our apps is stored locally on your device by default. Advertising partners may process device and ad interaction data as described in app-specific policies.

Cloud Sync (Optional): When you enable cloud sync, your data is encrypted and stored in your personal cloud account (iCloud, Google Drive, etc., depending on the product). Nice Software does not have access to your synced data. You control this setting entirely.

Backups: We recommend regular backups of important data. You can export your data at any time from our applications.

Data We Do Not Collect

  • We do not inspect content you create in our apps for advertising
  • We do not run our own app usage analytics
  • We do not collect precise location through our own services
  • We do not create user profiles or accounts on our servers
  • We do not create advertising profiles from your app content
  • Advertising partners may use device identifiers as described in app-specific policies

Your Rights & Data Control

Access: Your data is stored on your device and fully accessible to you at any time.

Export: You can export your data from our applications at any time in standard formats (PDF, CSV, JSON, etc.).

Deletion: You can delete any or all of your data at any time through the app or by removing the app from your device.

Data Portability: Exported data is yours to use with any service you choose.

Security

Your data is stored locally on your device and protected by your device's security features. If you enable cloud sync, data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We recommend:

  • Keeping your device software up to date
  • Using a strong device password
  • Enabling two-factor authentication on your cloud account (if using sync)
  • Reviewing privacy settings in our apps regularly

Third-Party Services

Nice Software products may use the following third-party services:

  • Cloud Services: iCloud (Apple), Google Drive, or similar for optional sync
  • Operating System Services: Widgets, notifications, and other OS features managed by Apple, Google, or Microsoft
  • Email Support: Support inquiries sent to hello@nicesoftware.xyz
  • Website Analytics: The nicesoftware.xyz marketing website uses Vercel Analytics, a cookieless service that counts aggregate page views, to help us understand which pages and apps people find useful. This data is not linked to your name or account, is never sold, and is used only to improve the site.
  • In-App Advertising: Free versions of some apps, including Logn, use Google AdMob for ads and Google User Messaging Platform for consent choices. Google and its partners may process device identifiers, approximate location, and ad interactions for ad delivery, measurement, and, where you consent, personalization. See each app's privacy policy for details.

Website analytics are separate from our apps. Advertising practices vary by app and are described in the product-specific policies below.

Children's Privacy

Our products are not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where applicable, through the app or email. Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of updated terms.
